How I spent my leaving gift from Ambergreen

As a leaving gift from Ambergreen, I received a rather tasty £40 Amazon gift voucher, which was promptly spent on a whole bunch of CD's, so you can expect another round of reviews. Although, I'm not really sure what I am doing here can really be called a review, as I there is high possibility that I already know they are they are well worth parting with the crinkle paper for, thanks to Spotify and Last.fm

Git Workflow - An Update

Now that Drupal have moved from CVS to the git versioning system, I realised that my github workflow can get even more of a workout and is doubly useful to me as I can now use it for Drupal contributions as well. The previous workflow is here: Github Workflow.

There are only a couple of differences between using Drupal's git and github.

Christmas Present - Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God

The title track is brilliant and was in my spotify playlist till the album got removed (by metalblade I can only presume), as was "Guardians Of Asgaard", both excellent tracks and powerful examples of Amon Amarths crushing style. Still on spotify are "Once sent from the Golden Hall" and "The Avenger".

Christmas Present - Turisas - The Varangian Way - Directors Cut (CD+DVD)

Image of The Varangian Way - Directors Cut (CD+DVD)

A good way to start the year listing some of the Christmas presents I received and this was a cracker. I saw Turisas at Bloodstock in 2009 and while I really liked them before, their performance there blew me away. In the year it had been since I last saw them, they had improved massively and that's saying something as the were by no means bad before.

The only post you'll ever need to test a template

The only post you'll ever need to test a template

The aim of this post is to write a page that contains all the elements of html that I'll ever use. For the purpose of theme development to ensure all elements are properly styled.

The purpose of this HTML is to help determine what default settings are with CSS and to make sure that all possible HTML Elements are included in this HTML so as to not miss any possible Elements when designing a site.

Turisas - Battle Metal

Image of Battle Metal

Battle Metal says it all, tales of Epic Battles need this album as the theme tune. There are some great tracks on this album, including "Battle Metal" itself along with "One More" and "Sahti Waari". And to boot they are a good fun band to go and watch in there Battle fatigues.

Arch Enemy - Stigmata

Michael Amott has to be ranked as one of the worlds greatest guitarists and songwriters, and almost certainly a leading influence in Death Metal. My favourite tracks on this album have to be "Beast of Man" and "Stigmata" and the re-issue album now also includes "Diva Satanica", worth shelling out for!

Mortiis - The Smell of Rain

Image of The Smell of Rain

Not sure where to start with this one, the one track in my playlist is "Scar Trek - Parasite God"... I heard it on the TV somewhere and was intrigued by the goblin get up, and then the track started popping up on Last.fm.

Not really wanting to pigeon hole any one, but this really isn't what I expected from an Ex- Emperor bassist. I think its quite industrial in places, but I have heard it compared to David Bowie of all people. I guess music doesn't need to be labelled, but I quite like pigeon holes, I like to know that everything has a place, even if it only has one thing in it.

Amon Amarth - Fate of Norms

Image of Fate of Norns

One of only three albums that have 4 songs in my spotify playlist, those four songs from this album are "An Ancient Sign of Coming storm", "Fate of Norms", "Once Sealed in Blood" and of course "The Pursuit of Vikings", not sure why others didn't make it in to the playlist as "Valkyries Ride" and "Arson" are amazing songs as well, which is taking nothing away from the other songs on the album, I just don't want this to end up the track listing affair I did last week on
